Lampe Announces for Sheriff

Rick Lampe has announced he is running for Boone County Sheriff on the Republican ticket.

Lampe has been involved in Law Enforcement since 1974 when he became a deputy sheriff in Bremer County. In 1979 he joined the Iowa State Patrol, where he remained for 31 years, working in and around Boone County. He retired from the State Patrol in 2009 with the rank of Sergeant. Since then he has been Boone County’s 911 administrator.

Lampe’s goals as Boone County sheriff would include: deterring crime by means of proactive community enforcement, aggressively investigating crimes that occur, completing the necessary follow-up investigation, and promote citizen involvement in the communities and county. Lampe would also include cost effective training to all employees of the sheriff’s office.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office is behind the technology curve, and Lampe would like to see the sheriff’s office leap into the 21st century with the technology that is available to law enforcement, while still working within the budget of the sheriff’s office. Lampe is currently the 911 Administrator for Boone County, and has been leading a group of law enforcement and fire department representative to establish a new federally mandated radio system for Boone County public safety.

Rick Lampe’s entire career has been spent in law enforcement and public service. In addition to his 911 duties, he supervises the communication center of the sheriff’s office, and is the Emergency Medical Dispatch Coordinator. Lampe also owns and operates a small business in Boone County. If elected Lampe will continue his dedication to law enforcement, the community, and the citizens of Boone County. Lampe welcomes any questions regarding his campaign for Boone County Sheriff.

Madrid Police Chief Rick Tasler Running for Sheriff

Madrid Police Chief Rick Tasler has announced that he will be running for Boone County Sheriff in the June 5th Republican Primary.

Chief Tasler joined the Madrid Police Department as Chief in 2008 after working as a Boone City Police officer for 7 years.

In making the announcement, Chief Tasler said, “There is a definite need for change in the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. After 20 some years of the same opinions and way of running things, the department has become very set in their ways. Those need to be changed to advance in the ever changing field of law enforcement.”

Chief Tasler, 35, moved to Boone County in 2001 from Scranton, where he served as police chief there for almost four years, in order to join the Boone Police Department. He was born and raised in Jefferson and graduated from high school there in 1995. He then attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, where he received his associate’s degree in criminal justice.

In 2007, he was married to Sara Moeller, a lifelong resident of Boone County who is employed at the Boone Vet Clinic. In addition to his police work, Chief Tasler is also well known as one of the coaches of the Boone High School Wrestling team.

“If elected I would make the sheriff’s department open and transparent. Residents must be able to ask questions and get answers from an actual working Sheriff who comes to work every day in uniform,” Chief Tasler said.

“I believe new blood from the outside is the only way that new relationships can be formed and the entire Sheriff’s Department can once again work together with the public and all other existing police departments in the county.”

Chief Tasler said the change needs to consist of a young and energetic Sheriff who has a past history of hard work and dedication. “Not a retired law enforcement officer just looking for benefits.”

“I will use common sense to run a department that is in need of several changes in the Administration, so that checks and balances can be put in place. I will change the schedules so more Officers will be on the patrol during peak times rather than having an office full of deputies and sometimes only 1 on the street, “Chief Tasler added.

“I will be bringing in a Chief Deputy from outside the department who has more education and experience than the current officers. That person will have the same goals as I do and that is to bring honesty, trust, and respect back to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.”

“It would be my greatest honor to serve Boone County in the Sheriff position,” Chief Tasler said.

State Convention Meets June 16

The Iowa State Convention will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. in Des Moines.

Hollingshead Announces Supervisor Bid

Ogden native Chet Hollingshead announced today that he is running for Boone County Supervisor in this year’s Republican Primary election on Tuesday, June 5th.

“I am excited to make this announcement”, Hollingshead said. “Boone County is facing many challenges and we need conservative leadership at the courthouse.”

Hollingshead is the first Republican candidate to announce his intentions.
Currently, Hollingshead is the President of the Ogden Community School District Board of Directors. He was elected to the Board in September, 2009.

“During a time of shrinking budgets and economic downturn I have worked with our board to cut our budget without harming the education our youth deserve”, Hollingshead said.
